Members of European royalty are no strangers to drama. Twice in the last 30 years they designated a certain year as an Annus Horribilis (Horrible Year). As recently as 2007 Juan Carlos I, the king of Spain, called that year an Annus Horribilis. A few years earlier Queen Elizabeth II of the UK used the same term for the year 1992.
In the best British tradition of understatement, Her Majesty said: “1992 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure”.
Well, friends and neighbours, now we can all name another year, which has not given us an “undiluted pleasure”, and it's not even over yet. In the last nine months we’ve all sustained losses, deep, or superficial, big or small, but we’ve all got hurt, financially or psychologically, emotionally or physically, individually, or as a family.
No matter what your particular situation is, chances are you’ve had a fair degree of stress lately. And one of the effects of stress is the weakening of the immune system, just when you need it most.
Your immune system fights off infection and disease. It detects and destroys anything, which is foreign to your body, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites or unhealthy cells.
The lymphatic system helps by providing transportation of infection-fighting cells throughout the body. And when you are under stress and your muscles stay tight, the flow of lymph through your body becomes sluggish and the immune system fighting capabilities get weak as well.
The good news is that we at Breathe Spa can do a lot to help your immune system recover and regain its strength. Massage and Lymphatic Drainage not only feel good, but improve your body’s infection fighting and healing capabilities.
